Combo is a portable bluetooth stereo speaker made in a industrial tank
It is completely customizable, and you can do your personal own, choosing between over 100 possible combination.
It has a bluetooth connection and the inner battery gives till 8 hour life with intensive usage.
Even in this case my vision was "use a finished product, like a semi-finished" to avoid the heavy costs of molding parts for mass production. In this project i wanted give a function, to every detail, from the form to the material and also to each part of it.
Everything started with a red one, that i found in a bin. I choose to save it and after i started to work on it. I brought it because i found interesting the shape, and the way how it's made:
a big and strong recipient without visible union parts , without screws. And also very essential since the moment that is designed just to work like a container, in the best and stronger way it can and also in the simplest way it can.
The design constraints were "how to put and fix everything inside it, without doing extra holes?"
And after this, How can i design the control panel ?
Where is the volume control ?
Is this box proper, to be used like a sound box, and what about speakers ?
Where i can see the battery status, and all the feedbacks from it ?
Well, step by step i'll show how i found answers to all of these questions.
First of all i had to design and choose every inside part according to the size of the woofer's holes.
After that i designed an easy and intuitive control panel,
where are located the on/off button,
the plug in for the 14v in charger and the in & out audio female jack.
The double jack connection (in & out) allow a multi-connection, and it means that you can join together more device, to deliver more loud music, till organize a real party just using few COMBO.
The volume control is situated just on the cap, adjust it is very easy and intuitive to do.
I was in struggling to designing it, till the moment the cap must not going out from the screw during the rotation and also remaining in the same position.
Every evolution of this particular
mechanism was focused on simplification and facility to assemble.
Talking about the sound, the thickness of the plastic don't allow to loose vibration, and the internal reinforcement allow to keep the shaking as low as possible, therefore take advantage from all the power and the frequency provided
In addition to this, I have used a sound-absorbing material to enhance the sound.
The Italian's speakers that i coose (Ciare)
are very flexible, they do not need to be placed on a sound box perfectly designed, in term of cm3.
All the feedback that you need are coming from a sigle RGB led situated under the Overlab logo. And it lights up like this:
Green light Steady: Speakers on, battery carged (take off plug if connected), bluetooth in searching
Green light blinking in Red: Speakers on, battery - 20% (put in charge), bluetooth in searching
Green light blinking in Yellow: Speakers on, battery in charge (plug connected),bluetooth in searching
Blue light Steady: Speakers on, battery carged (take off plug if connected), bluetooth connected
Blue light blinking in Red: Speakers on, battery - 20% (put in charge), bluetooth connected
Blue light blinking in Yellow: Speakers on, battery in charge (plug connected) , bluetooth connected
